Strong trading for Lookers
Lookers has released a favourable trading update for the financial year ending 31 December 2006 which puts the dealer group ahead of the profit forecast it made in April 2006.
The company said it achieved particularly strong results in its franchised and parts distribution businesses. The group also said the 10 dealerships acquired from HR Owen on 31 August 2006 have been successfully integrated and are performing in line with its plans.
Also the new FPS parts distribution facility in Sheffield has been completed on time and within budget and is now fully operational. Preliminary results for the year will be announced on 12 March.

New boss for Carter & Carter
Carter & Carter Group, the leading provider of automotive training in the UK, has announced the appointment of Nigel Kirkham as chief operating officer.
Kirkham’s previous experience includes 14 years with KPMG Management Consulting in a variety of consultancy and leadership roles, and eight years at Xansa, the business process and IT services provider. He takes on his new role with immediate effect.

Inchcape completes St Petersburg deal
Inchcape has completed its acquisition of the Axel Car dealership in St Petersburg, Russia.
The global dealer group has acquired a 75.1 per cent stake in the Toyota and Lexus site after identifying Russia as one of its key markets for expansion.
Inchcape has also announced plans to enter the Moscow market - two Toyota dealerships are under construction and due to open in the second half of the year.
