Nissan Qashqai is fastest selling used car – Glass’s
SUVs are some of the fastest selling used cars on UK forecourts, according to Glass’s.
Top of the charts is the Nissan Qashqai, which is taking 25.3 days to sell.
It is joined in the top 10 by three other SUVs, Peugeots 3008, which takes 28.9 days to shift, the 2008 (28.1)and the Audi Q3 (27.5)
Also in the Top 10 were the Hyundai i10, taking 26.9 days to sell, the Volkswagen Bora (27.3), Audi Q3 (27.5) and Audi TT (28).
Rupert Pontin, chief car editor at Glass’s, said: “These results not only reinforce the popularity and desirability of the Qashqai but emphasise the growing importance of crossover SUVs in the used as well as new markets."
Glass’s also revealed the slowest selling cars on UK forecourts with the Vauxhall Cascada the worst performer, taking almost 103 days to sell. It was followed by the MG6, Mini Paceman, Nissan Leaf and F-Tyore Jaguar.
“It’s hard to believe that the Vauxhall Cascada is the slowest seller of all, which suggests that it’s either in oversupply or it’s overpriced. Realistically, it’s probably a combination of both,” said Pontin.
“Only time will tell. I’m also extremely surprised to see the Jaguar F-Type and Mini Paceman in such lowly positions.
“These have been very successful in the new market but perhaps buyers only want them as new cars or find that the second-hand models are overpriced,” he said.

Residual boost for Overfinch Range Rovers
Demand for high specification Range Rover is increasing, according to vehicle conversion firm Overfinch.
It cited figures from CAP which showed that that the new Range Rover Overfinch conversion retains 30% more value than the standard car.
CAP assessed the added value of Overfinch’s external body styling, exhaust systems, wheels and interior features such as upgraded leather seat designs.
Their opinion is an update to CAP’s 2012 evaluation of Overfinch, on the now-replaced Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models.
CAP concluded at the time that Overfinch conversions commanded a 23% residual value uplift on the standard model ‘Black Book’ values.
Overfinch Chairman, Kevin Sloane, said: “Our strategic decision to further increase the luxury and exclusivity of Overfinch Range Rovers has been justified.
“A seven percentage point increase in the residual value of our vehicles to 30%, compared to the standard model, is testament to the increased desirability of an Overfinch Range Rover.
CAP Black Book Editor, Tim Bearder, said: “We have been tracking the used vehicle market for over two years in relation to Overfinch models.
“Converted vehicles with Overfinch enhancements are then compared against the residual value of the equivalent standard Land Rover model.
“In our opinion, the uplift for the all-new Overfinch Range Rover models (L405) is 30% on top of our Black Book used values for standard models.”

Britons are happier with their cars than ever before
- Over 50,000 owners reveal Britain's best cars to own.
- Skoda secures top three places in survey as Yeti wins for third year in a row
London, 23rd April 2014: British motorists are happier with their cars than ever before. The 2014 Auto Express Driver Power car owner survey has revealed that satisfaction levels have increased significantly from when the poll first launched in 2002.
The survey, run by Britain's biggest-selling weekly motoring magazine Auto Express, covers the issues that really matter to motorists, with drivers rating their vehicles on build quality, reliability, performance and more. This year, Driver Power received over 50,000 responses, making it the most significant survey of its kind in the UK.
In 2014, the average satisfaction rating of a car in the Driver Power Top 100 was 88.36 per cent - a rise of 7 percentage points over the comparable figure of 81.75 per cent in 2002.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief Auto Express, said: "The UK car market is booming at the moment with over two years of consecutive growth and new car registrations up three per cent, and it is no surprise given the Driver Power results. Britons are happier than ever with their cars, scoring their vehicles much more highly than in previous years."
Driver Power 2014 reveals the Skoda Yeti as Britain's best car to own for the third year running with an overall score of 92.7 per cent, with the Skoda Citigo and Skoda Superb taking a close second and third place with 92.6 per cent and 91.6 per cent respectively. The Yeti was voted easiest car to drive, and the Citigo the most affordable to run.
"Skoda has done a brilliant job of building cars that people love," continued Fowler. "Skoda entered the crossover class with the Yeti in 2009 and it proved an instant hit, with demand outstripping supply as soon as dealers opened the order books. The car's appeal hasn't waned, and the company kept its latest update very simple. It's great to see the Skoda Citigo in the top three, too - it's a fantastic city car that appeals across many levels."
The best performing British car was the MG6, assembled in Longbridge, West Midlands, which received an overall satisfaction rating of 90.9 per cent.
"The MG6 marked the dawn of a new era for the British brand and has proven very popular with owners," said Fowler.

Garage of the Year, meet Car of the Year
Annual Motor Codes prize to be awarded at flagship Auto Express event.
Motor Codes is set to open its annual Garage of the Year contest, with the winners to be crowned at the Auto Express Car of the Year Awards. The partnership with the UK's biggest-selling car weekly and the addition of a flagship prize-giving event for Garage of the Year is one of several enhancements to the competition this year.
With past winners reporting a sustained boost in business, reputation and bookings from far away, this year's tie-up with Auto Express demonstrates extra value for regional winners and national champions of this established competition.
Open to all Motor Codes subscribers, Garage of the Year 2014 will be a month-long campaign, running from 27 May to 22 June. Online reviews left for garages between those dates will determine 20 regional winners - the UK's top main dealers and independent garages. The regional winners will be announced week commencing 23 June. Judges will then analyse the surveys received for each regional winner and the national champions will be announced at the Auto Express Car of the Year event at London's Grand Connaught Rooms on 15 July.
The move towards online reviews mirrors the drive by Motor Codes to provide the online garage selection route of choice and deliver more business to committed subscribers, as Chris Mason, managing director, explains:
"Customer feedback is at the heart of the operation. It adds credibility and customer reassurance to our online garage finder. We now have around 11,500 new ratings flowing through the site every month and you can't get much more transparent than that."
There is no need for subscribers to register for Garage of the Year. Motor Codes will track the number of surveys completed for each garage.
Customers can complete the Motor Codes survey at www.motorcodes.co.uk/survey/service-and-repair.
In advance of the competition opening, a suite of marketing materials has been made available through the log-in area of www.motorcodes.co.uk, including online modules that can be used to direct traffic to the Motor Codes survey page.
Garage of the Year plays a central role in the Motor Codes online marketing campaign. People visiting the website in 2013, reading reviews of subscribing garages, went on to deliver a potential revenue stream of £17 million in service and repair bookings.

Introducing new Citroën Relay: ahead of debut at CV Show
The New Citroën Relay will make its debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2014 (NEC, 29 April - 1 May, Hall 5/Stand D40).
Building upon the success of the current Relay range, the New Citroën Relay brings class-leading payloads and load space practicality; square-sided load compartments; wide load decks; and some of the lowest load deck heights in its class. Complementing its load carrying practicality, New Relay also delivers higher levels of standard equipment, extended service intervals; up to 15% more fuel efficient engines and lower emissions - as well as a new range of options to improve safety and driver comfort.
Jeremy Smith, Citroën's Head of Commercial Vehicles & Business Sector Operations, comments; "When it goes on sale in the third quarter this year, New Relay will build upon the success of its predecessor which, even at the end of its production life, is still delivering high UK sales volumes. We expect the wide choice of New Relay variants - all offering class-leading load carrying practicality and low cost of operation, coupled with even higher standards of equipment - will increase its popularity with both national fleets and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) businesses."
The New Citroën Relay stands out from its competitors with a stylish new front end and large high-mounted headlights incorporating daytime running lights. It also incorporates a striking new grille and chevron design as well as a large, multi-piece front bumper to minimise accident damage and reduce repair costs.
In developing New Relay, Citroën's engineers have applied the latest technology and materials to raise the reliability of high stress usage items such as doors and suspension. Intensive New Relay development has involved:
- Over 4,000,000km of engineering road testing
- 500,000 door slam tests (equivalent to10 year's intensive use)
- 30,000km of testing on poor quality road surfaces & intensive testing on low grip surfaces
- 1,000 water fording operations to test sealing
As a result of this intensive development programme, New Relay's body structures incorporate multiple-point reinforcement to raise body rigidity, improve durability and also to lower noise levels.
High use, high stress items such as the rear doors have been reinforced and higher strength door hinges are now used. Similarly, the sliding side load doors have benefited from reinforced rails, re-designed runners and improved door locks - all of which raise durability and security standards.
Underbody improvements include re-designed shock absorber mountings for reduced road noise.
Braking performance has been optimised with dimensional and tolerance changes; these have reduced operational noise as well as improving braking performance.
Braking performance has been optimised with dimensional and tolerance changes; these have reduced operational noise as well as improving braking performance.
Citroën's advanced HDi diesel engine choice for the New Relay range has significantly improved, with up to 15% better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions figures. Now, all New Relay panel vans in the 3.0 - 3.5 tonne gvw sector have excellent combined cycle fuel economy of up to 42.8mpg and sub-200g/km CO2emission figures.
Other operating cost reduction features include extended service intervals of up to 2 years or 30,000 miles. All New Relay panel vans have Citroën's unique Trafficmaster SmartNav intelligent satellite navigation and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking, which provides further operational cost savings and efficiency gains.
New Citroën Relay Range
The New Citroën Relay will be available with a comprehensive choice range of factory-built variants, including:

In addition, there are large door pockets, storage space beneath the passenger seat and a sizeable 22-litre overhead storage compartment. New Relay also has 12v power sockets in both the cab and in the load compartment, and there is extensive interior lighting within the cab. A multi-function trip computer forms part of the vehicle's electronic instrument display adding to New Relay's premium appeal.
New Citroën Relay - A Wide Choice of Panel Vans
For practicality, all New Relay panel vans offer large internal body dimensions including best-in-class load width between wheel arches of 1420mm and side door widths of up to 1250mm. Complementing these large load compartment dimensions is New Relay's very low load deck height.
The smallest New Relay L1H1 panel van can be specified in 3.0 and 3.3 tonne gross weights, and has a load space volume of 8.0 m3. The New Relay L1H1 has generous internal dimensions, which include a load length of 2670mm; an internal load compartment height of 1662mm; a maximum load width of 1870mm and a between-the-wheel arches dimension of 1420mm - wide enough for an 8ft x 4ft sheet to be loaded flat on the floor.
The medium wheelbase New Relay L2 model can be specified in both standard and high roof formats, giving respective load volumes of 10m3 and 11.5m3. The New Relay L2 panel van has a load deck length of 3120mm and either an interior load height of 1662mm (H1) or 1932mm (H2). The L2 New Relay can be specified in 3.3, 3.5 and 4.005 tonne gross weight versions.
In long wheelbase L3 format, New Relay is available in 3.3, 3.5 and 4.005 tonne gross weight versions with the H2 roof height. In this configuration, the New Relay van has a load deck length of 3705mm and an internal load height of 1932mm, which gives a 13 m3 capacity.
The largest New Relay panel vans are the 3.5 and 4.005 tonne gvw L4H2 and L4H3 models, which have a load deck length of 4070mm. These are produced in ‘Heavy Specification' with 16-inch wheels and tyres, and uprated heavy duty rear suspension. In L4H2 format, the New Relay has a load volume of 15m3, which is increased to an impressive 17m3 for the L4H3 model.
New Citroën Relay - Load Carrying Efficiency
Thanks to efficient engineering and extensive use of high tensile steel, the New Relay range offers some of the highest available payloads in its class. New Relay panel vans offer a choice of payloads from 1140 - 1995kg.
The two expected best-selling New Relay models are the New Relay 30 L1H1 HDi 110 six-speed manual and the New Relay 35 L3H2 HDi 130 six-speed manual. The 30 L1H1 HDi 110 manual model has a gross payload of 1155kg, up to 243kg better than some of its key competitors. The larger New Relay 35 L3H2 HDi 130 six-speed manual has a gross payload of 1525kg, nearly 400kg better than some of its main competitors.
New Citroën Relay - Efficient Power
Four HDi or e-HDi engines are available in the New Relay range, providing operators with fuel-efficient and low CO2 emissions power. New Relay is available with the choice of 110, 130 and 150 engines - all are available mated to six-speed, all-synchromesh manual gearboxes. The 130 engine is also available in e-HDi format with Stop & Start on selected versions.
These 2.2 litre turbo-charged diesel engines offer exceptional fuel economy figures. On the combined cycle, the New Relay 30 powered by the HDi 110hp engine, has a fuel economy figure of 41.5mpg. This rises to 42.8mpg for the same van with the Stop & Start-equipped e-HDi 130 engine. The New Relay 35 L3H2 HDi 130 has a combined cycle fuel economy figure of 38.2mpg, rising to 39.2mpg when powered by the e-HDi 130 engine. New Citroën Relay - Comprehensive Option Choice
New Relay offers customers the benefits of a wide range of optional advanced technology. The New Relay's standard ESC system can be optionally upgraded with Intelligent Traction Control and Hill Descent Control. A Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) option is also available, which uses a camera mounted in the rear-view mirror to recognise whether the driver has drifted across lane markings without indicating. If this occurs, the driver receives an audible warning as well as a visual one via the instrument panel. LDWS engages at speeds over 37mph and is optionally available on all models including the Relay 40 heavy versions, where it is standard specification.
New Relay is also available with an optional reversing camera coupled with parking sensors in the rear bumper.

As well as offering operators the benefits of high payloads and an ultra-practical load compartment, New Relay delivers a wide range of other financial benefits. These include combined cycle fuel economy figures of up to 42.8mpg, as well as the benefits of low CO2 emissions. Building on these financial efficiencies are New Relay's extended service intervals of up to 2 years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes first) for normal operations.
Backing these extended service intervals is New Relay's flexible warranty of 2 years/unlimited mileage or 3 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first).
Backing these extended service intervals is New Relay's flexible warranty of 2 years/unlimited mileage or 3 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first).
As a further means of improving New Relay's productivity, efficiency and safety is Citroen's unique Trafficmaster telematics platform. This is fitted as standard on all New Relay vans. This advanced telematics package includes Smartnav intelligent satellite navigation and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking.
The Trafficmaster telematics platform also allows New Relay operators to specify Fleet Director, a low-cost real-time fleet management system. With this standard telematics facility, New Relay operators benefit from efficient vehicle routing, avoiding traffic delays, the security of stolen vehicle tracking in the unlikely event of vehicle theft and major reductions in driver stress levels.

Volkswagen Group starts electro-mobility campaign in China
- CEO Prof. Dr. Winterkorn: "We are launching the biggest initiative for e-mobility in China's automotive history."
- Campaign gets underway with electric up!1 and e-Golf2
- Over €18 billion to be spent on new vehicles, technologies and plants up to 2018
- Over 500,000 employees at more than 3,600 dealerships in 2018
- Vehicle deliveries in China targeted to top 3.5 million for first time in 2014
Wolfsburg / Beijing, April 22, 2014: "The Volkswagen Group is once again assuming a pioneering role in China and launching the biggest initiative for e-mobility in China's automotive history," Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, announced at the Auto China motor show in Beijing. The initiative gets underway with the launch this year of the Volkswagen brand's electric up!1 and e-Golf2 models.
While the Porsche Panamera S E-hybrid3 is already in the showrooms in China, the Group will be launching two further innovative plug-in hybrid vehicles there next year with the Audi A3 e-tron4 and the Golf GTE5. Starting in 2016, this will be followed by two models developed specially for the Chinese market: These are the Audi A6 and a new mid-size limousine from the Volkswagen brand, both plug-in hybrids which are being developed together with the joint venture partners FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen and will be produced locally. Furthermore, the Bentley Hybrid Concept opens a window on the broad-ranging potential of hybrid technology.
Winterkorn went on to say. "All these vehicles are highly efficient and eco-friendly. And at the same time they offer lots of driving pleasure. That is exactly what people all over the world and here in China expect of the Volkswagen Group. Thanks to the modular strategy, which is also being implemented at our Chinese factories, we can electrify nearly every model in our range: From small cars to large sedans, from pure electric drives to plug-in hybrids."
As a result, the Volkswagen Group is making its Chinese vehicle fleet ever more efficient. Seventeen Group models already meet the updated legal requirements set by the Chinese authorities to qualify as ‘especially energy-efficient vehicles'. "Here in China, we are now setting out on the road to a future of emission-free mobility," Winterkorn added.
Investments remain at record level
To that end, the two joint venture partners FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen are investing more than ever before in state-of-the-art vehicles and drives, green technologies and resource-efficient plants. €18.2 billion will be invested up to 2018. As Winterkorn commented: "Our team of over 2,700 engineers in China and our partners are working together on pioneering technologies, and we are banking on China's innovative power." The company will continue on its growth trajectory. Over the coming years, more than 20,000 new skilled jobs will be created in China alone.
50 percent expansion of dealer network by 2018
In addition, the Group's dealer network will see significant growth and increase by 50 percent from the present approx. 2,400 dealerships to over 3,600 partners. More than 500,000 people will then be employed by the Volkswagen Group's Chinese dealer organization. The success of the dealerships is based on an ever-growing range of attractive models. This year alone, the Group brands will be putting over 30 new models, successor models and product upgrades in Chinese showrooms.
China plays key role in Strategy 2018
Winterkorn also said that "China is the Volkswagen Group's largest single market and plays a key role in our Strategy 2018. For 2014, we have once again set our sights on double-digit growth in China and are aiming to deliver over 3.5 million vehicles to customers for the first time in a calendar year." According to Winterkorn, the Group is also making good overall progress across all markets: "This year, our Group is aiming to deliver over ten million vehicles to customers worldwide for the first time." That would mean the quantitative target of Strategy 2018 would have been achieved four years earlier than planned.
Digitalisation also redefining the car in China
China will be an integral part of the Group's ‘Future Tracks' initiative. As Winterkorn explained: "Here in China, as elsewhere, people's expectations of mobility and the automobile are changing faster and faster." Moreover, increasing digitalization is confronting the automotive industry with challenges while at the same time presenting great opportunities as well. Vintage Morris 1000 convertible sells for £3,800 at BCA
The Cowley, Oxford manufactured car was first registered on 9th May 1963 and was offered for sale by CC Trade.
Finished in black with green keyline, with black hood and green leather interior and new carpets, this little convertible had covered just 76,469 warranted miles in the intervening 51 years since leaving the factory.
The car generated a lot of interest prior to sale with hundreds of views of the online catalogue listing at bca.co.uk and sold following some very competitive bidding from both buyers in the hall and online bidders using BCA's Live Online service.
BCA's Tim Naylor commented "This was a very well presented 1960s Morris that created a real buzz amongst our buyers. With summer coming this was a very useable historic convertible that would be suitable for concours and classic events, or simply something different for weekend motoring. With plenty of suppliers for parts and servicing and a very active Morris Owners club, this would be the ideal starter classic for any enthusiast."

The new Peugeot Boxer
- Popular Boxer enhanced with a new frontal appearance
- Greatly enhanced specification with many useful business features (DAB, Bluetooth, etc.)
- ‘Professional model' has added features like touchscreen and satellite navigation
A major player in the commercial vehicle market in Europe with a very wide range, PEUGEOT continues the renewal of its model offer with the new PEUGEOT Boxer.
Tested over more than two million miles and proven under extreme conditions, the quality, robustness and durability of the new PEUGEOT Boxer is also expressed through a resolutely modern design in the Brand's style. Low running costs, including best fuel economy in the market, as well as competitive service contracts, ensure ‘peace of mind' in use.
The wide range of bodies and load capacities - equal to the best in segment, and with standard equipment designed for business users, make everyday life and driving simple on board the new PEUGEOT Boxer. Much more than a means of transport, the new PEUGEOT Boxer is an essential part of business efficiency.
"The new PEUGEOT Boxer contributes to the Brand's product offensive and move up-market, through its level of quality, robustness and equipment levels, associated with a modern and attractive style. It also supports our strategy of internationalisation with 30% of sales outside Europe", said Xavier Peugeot, PEUGEOT Product Director.
A revitalised large van market
PEUGEOT has a long history of vans, starting in 1950. More than 1.8 million vans have been produced, nearly a million of which are PEUGEOT Boxers of the 3 generations produced since 1994.
PEUGEOT has a long history of vans, starting in 1950. More than 1.8 million vans have been produced, nearly a million of which are PEUGEOT Boxers of the 3 generations produced since 1994.
The market segment represents around 500,000 vehicles a year in Europe. It is gaining some momentum with growth of 0.24% between 2010 and 2013. During the same period, the 3rd generation PEUGEOT Boxer, sold since 2006, increased its market share in Europe by 0.5% and up by 1.3% since launch - with sales outside Europe growing by 35%. The new PEUGEOT Boxer, on sale from the second quarter of 2014, will allow this momentum to be increased.
The new PEUGEOT Boxer has been designed for a new era and to suit the multiple uses of business users, who have high demands in terms of quality, running costs and efficient operation in service.
Proven quality of design
Robustness and durability put to the test
"Reliability and durability are naturally key factors in the purchase of a commercial vehicle, as they enhance the product's function, performance and desirability to affect the resale value in particular. We are committed to an in-depth approach to quality in use and durability, so as to be at the level better than our competitors. These are essential levers in the Brand's move up-market and the new PEUGEOT Boxer is a strong demonstration of this", says Philippe Pelletier, Quality Director.

We are committed to an in-depth approach to quality in use and durability, so as to be at the level better than our competitors. These are essential levers in the Brand's move up-market and the new PEUGEOT Boxer is a strong demonstration of this", says Philippe Pelletier, Quality Director.
The specification for the new PEUGEOT Boxer includes a quality imperative expressed at all levels: design, build quality, reliability, noise suppression and durability.
The quality of its design, as with the Brand's cars, is focused on two key areas:
- tighter design rules, based on feedback from other projects, assessment of the competition and analysis of vehicle durability after 7 years in service
- a range of additional and specific validations, over and above the tests usually carried out, to assess resistance to ageing
The result of this work can be seen in the tests referred to as ‘quality in use' that simulate typical ageing in service with customers.
During the development phase of the new PEUGEOT Boxer, the work done on improvement to durability and noise reduction was in the areas of:
- a strengthened body structure for greater rigidity
- a redesigned front scuttle
- new mechanisms for the sliding side doors and strengthened rear doors
- larger brakes
- a new design for suspension damper brackets
- a range of 2.2-litre HDi engines benefitting from a revised injection system
To ensure a high level of reliability and endurance, compatible with intensive use in service for the new PEUGEOT Boxer, more than 2.5 million miles have been driven, in the most extreme conditions, covering full load, half load and empty situations, on all types of roads, including poor surfaces and mountainous areas.
Reliability and durability have also been proven by special tests, among which were:
- 1,500 hours at temperatures from -20°C to +40°C to ensure resistance to ageing by the components and materials used in mechanical, plastic and electronic parts
- 1,000 crossings through 10cm of water or 3cm with saline spray, with no washing of the vehicle during the following 1,000 km, to validate the sealing and resistance to corrosion
- 500,000 door opening test cycles carried out at temperatures of -30°C to +80°C, representative of intensive use over 10 years
Quality at delivery for the new PEUGEOT Boxer has also received close attention. In addition to the quality control checks made in the factory during all phases of production, more than 1,800 cosmetic and functional checks are made on each vehicle at the end of the line.
Placing the new PEUGEOT Boxer in its time through a strong and modern identity, including the Brand's styling cues, adapted to the commercial vehicle world, was the challenge taken up by the PEUGEOT Design Department.
A commercial vehicle must be practical and sturdy, but must also enhance its business users, as it contributes towards the image of their company and business. The new resolutely modern front end is evocative of power and strength. The bonnet, with its pronounced lines is underlined by the Brand badge. The wide grille - inspired by the new PEUGEOT 308 - is surrounded by a metallic grey finisher that appears to be machined from solid.
The new PEUGEOT Boxer adopts a very expressive, feline and technological look, reinforced by the grille continuing up to the headlamps, which now include daytime running lamps as standard with LEDs as an option.
Its new imposing bumpers provide maximum protection and include in the lower part, two circular recesses to receive, as an option or standard, the front foglamps, made of polycarbonate for greater strength. Just above, two rectangular recesses serve as steps to facilitate cleaning the windscreen. The rear end is enhanced by the Brand badge and a new lighting signature, which emphasises the modernity of the new PEUGEOT Boxer and provides improved visibility from the side for rear lighting.
In the functional and comfortable interior, the new PEUGEOT Boxer also shows improvements in elegance and perceived quality. The steering wheel adopts a more modern form and gives a feeling of strength from the first touch. To improve comfort and handling, it can be trimmed in leather as an option.
The dashboard receives a new control panel with a new range of audio systems, while the new black ‘Darko' cloth punctuated with red and grey is adopted for the seats, with the brown Achille trim as an option. The whole effect contributes towards the perception of improved quality and modern appearance of the cabin.
An easy and safe drive
To ensure safety and an easy drive, the new PEUGEOT Boxer offers a wide range of modern and technological equipment to help with driving and safety.
To ensure safety and an easy drive, the new PEUGEOT Boxer offers a wide range of modern and technological equipment to help with driving and safety.
ABS, ESP, EBA - Emergency Braking Assistance, a driver's airbag and electric windows are all part of the standard equipment, together with a steel bulkhead between the cabin and the loading area, contributing towards better noise suppression.
For anti-theft protection, it is fitted with:
- central door locking with deadlocking
- independent locking and unlocking of the load space
- automatic display in the touch screen of the rear of the vehicle, using a reversing camera, when the rear doors are opened
- An alarm as standard on Professional models
To protect occupants and to suit the various uses of the vehicle by the customer, the new PEUGEOT Boxer offers numerous active and passive safety systems:
- The LAC (Load Adaptive Control) function adapts the point at which the ESP intervenes, according to the load in the vehicle and its distribution. In this way it allows the vehicle to remain stable on its trajectory in critical situations
- ASR (anti-slip regulation or traction control), also part of the ESP function, detects spin on one or both driving wheels; it acts on the brakes and the engine speed to restore grip. At low speed, ASR makes it easier to move off, particularly on slippery surfaces. It allows the vehicle to move off smoothly, without stalling and preserves the clutch, so improving its service life. At higher speeds, it avoids wheel spin, particularly under sharp acceleration on slippery surfaces
- The LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System)continuously reads the road using a camera placed above the interior mirror. If the driver crosses a continuous or broken line without using the direction indicators, a warning lamp appears in the dashboard and an audible alarm is given on the side that the line was crossed. This new feature is standard equipment on the 4 tonne van, and is available as an option on other models in the range.
- With TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), standard on Minibuses and an option on the other versions, each wheel is fitted with a pressure sensor and in the event of loss of pressure or a puncture, the wheel in question is identified to the driver by a message in the instrument panel or on the central screen
- A passenger airbag and two curtain airbags are available as options.
The new PEUGEOT Boxer also has safety and driving assistance systems:
- Hill Start Assist, also part of ESP, this system is activated when the vehicle is stationary, engine running, foot on the brake pedal, on a slope steeper than 5%, in forward gear going up or reverse gear going down. Under these conditions braking pressure is maintained for around two seconds after the driver releases the brake pedal, offering assurance and ease in moving off without the vehicle dropping back, whatever the load in the vehicle
- Grip Control, available as an option, is a system that provides improved traction on surfaces with low grip (mud, snow or ice). When the system is activated by the push button on the dashboard and it detects a situation of low grip, the Grip Control takes over from ASR transferring the drive to the wheel with the best grip on the ground in order to optimise traction and maintain the vehicle's trajectory. It is automatically deactivated above 18mph
- Grip Control now includes a new function, HDC(Hill Descent Control), which can be activated by pressing a push button on the dashboard. It allows the driver to maintain a constant speed below 18mph; and the control of their vehicle on a slope - particularly on a muddy or loose surface - of at least 8%, and this without any action on the accelerator or brake by the driver. The function is automatically deactivated when the driver accelerates to a speed above 18mph
Other driving and manoeuvring assistance systems complete the equipment:
- A new programmable cruise control and speed limiter system is standard on the Professional model or optional on other models, allowing the speed of the vehicle to be maintained at a programmed speed, without the driver using the accelerator when the cruise control is used
- Rear parking sensors are standard on the Professional model and available as an option on other models using four ultrasonic proximity sensors fitted in the rear bumper. The system operates automatically when reverse gear is engaged. It detects obstacles close to the rear of the vehicle, which are signalled to the driver by an audible signal, the frequency of which increases as the vehicle approaches then, the signal becoming continuous when a few centimetres away. For greater safety, pedestrians are also alerted by en external audible signal when the vehicle is reversing
- To make manoeuvring the vehicle even easier, the new PEUGEOT Boxer also offers a new, optional reversing camera with an overlays function. Fitted adjacent to the third brake lamp, when in reverse it automatically sends an image of the area behind the vehicle to the touch screen. It allows more precise manoeuvres thanks to the different coloured lines showing distances from the rear bumper. The reversing camera can be coupled with rear parking sensors
- Variable assistance power steering is standard with the 3.0-litre HDi engine and on the 4 tonne models; it is also available as an option on certain versions. It adapts the level of assistance according to the speed of the vehicle. At high speed the steering is heavier for greater safety and lighter at low speed to facilitate manoeuvres
Modern equipment devised for business users
The new PEUGEOT Boxer offers a wide choice of equipment, allowing the cabin to be turned into a true mobile office.
The functional cabin offers various storage areas, as well as a document holder and writing table built into the folding backrest of the centre seat.
The new range of audio systems, with the option of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), offers as standard Bluetooth hands-free telephone operation and a USB port.
An exclusive feature in the segment, a 5'' colour touch screen, standard on Professional models, allows the operation of all functions, such as audio streaming, reading SMS text messages andas standard - which is unprecedented in the segment - or an option, a new integrated satellite navigation system, as well as the display of the image from the reversing camera.
Competitive and controlled running costs
Maintenance costs and fuel consumption among the lowest in the market
The new PEUGEOT Boxer is available with a range of five Diesel engines of the latest generation with particle filter (FAP) that meet the Euro 5 emissions standard:
- The 2.2-litre HDi FAP 110 develops 81kW and 250Nm at 1,750rpm. This 4-cylinder turbo engine has a cast iron cylinder block, an aluminium cylinder head, 16-valves and double overhead camshafts. It offers lively performance, while being economical in operation, two worthwhile benefits for urban driving
- The 2.2-litre HDi FAP 130 and the 2.2-litre HDi FAP 150 develop 96kW and 320Nm at 1,800rpm and 110kW and 350Nm at 1,750rpm respectively. Compared to the 110hp version, they have a specific piston cooling system and engine mapping. The 2.2-litre HDi FAP 130 can also be specified with Stop & Starttechnology
- The 3.0-litre HDi FAP 180 develops 130kW and 400Nm at 1,400rpm, an exceptional torque figure for the category. Its Common Rail fuel injection system regulates the fuel pressure to between 450 and 1800 bar according to demand. This technology provides all the performance needed for long distance journeys and for use when heavily loaded
The arrival of Stop & Start technology on the 2.2-litre HDi 130 allows fuel consumption that is among the best on the market, and with an average reduction of 5g/km in CO2 emissions too.
Maintenance costs for the new PEUGEOT Boxer are among the lowest in the market thanks to:
- engines fitted with a timing chain that does not require replacement, and with servicing intervals extended to 30,000 miles or two years
- larger brakes to improve performance and reduce wear
- good weight distribution and front wheel drive, allowing the fitment of standard 15'' tyres, the most economical in the market
A version for every application
The new PEUGEOT Boxer offers the widest choice of bodies in the market so can adapt to all uses and every business requirement and trade. Based on three wheelbases (3m, 3.45m and 4.04m), the versions are available in four vehicle lengths (L1, L2, L3 and L4) and three heights (H1, H2 and H3), of which eight bodies combinations are available from 8 to 17m3.
The new PEUGEOT Boxer is also available in other versions to meet the needs of particular trades:
- 7-seat crew cab
- flat bed, with single 3-seat or double 7-seat cab
- tippers and dropsides with GVW of 335
- base vehicles for conversions on single and double chassis cabs, floor cabs, bare chassis and ‘back-to-back' (delivered as a pair to be separated in conversion) versions
A very large number of conversions possible
The base range for motorhome conversions is available as a van or chassis cab, and has in particular the option of, when-static, rotating front seats.
Record loading efficiency
Ease of loading has not been overlooked on the new PEUGEOT Boxer.
It offers the largest useable volume with an overall length of just 6.36m, around 50cm to 1m more than the competition.
It also has one of the widest ranges of Gross Vehicle Weights, with a range of five GVWs from 3 to 4 tonnes:
- Light range: 330 (3 tonnes) / 333 (3.3 tonnes) / 335 (3.5 tonnes),
- Heavy range: 435 (3.5 tonnes) / 440 (4 tonnes),
This range offers better payloads than rear wheel drive vehicles, which are penalised by the weight of the extra transmission and drivetrain.
The PEUGEOT Boxer also offers great ease of loading due to:
- a record load width of 1.87m and 1.42m between wheel arches
- a low load sill, between 493 and 602mm
- rear doors that open to 96° and extended to 180° due to a folding check strap and to 270° as an option feature
- one or two sliding side doors
The load sill can be lowered by 60 to 70mm, depending on the wheelbase, due to self-levelling rear pneumatic suspension. This suspension also maintains a constant ride height regardless of load and provides improved ride comfort. The control is located on the dashboard with an indication of the position in the instrument panel, the vehicle returns to its nominal ride height from 12mph.
The new Boxer range now provides Business users with an even greater product offering, with a durable reputation enhanced with numerous improvements, a greater level of standard and optional specification and the widest choice of models presently available on the market.
