GM proposes alliance with Renault Nissan
General Motors could be on the verge of striking a deal with Renault-Nissan that would create an alliance with control of almost 25 per cent of global car sales.
The tie up was proposed by GM shareholder Kirk Kerkorian who has a 9.9 per cent stake in the Detroit company.
According to reports, Kerkorian has claimed Carlos Ghosn, chief executive of Renault and Nissan, was receptive to buying a significant minority interest in GM.
