Green legislation to force new car price rises
The cost of a new car could rise by as much as £2,500 as car makers attempt to lower carbon emissions from vehicles in accordance with the new European Union recommendations. The SMMT has warned that consumers will be forced to pay higher prices as manufacturers implement new technology that helps produce cleaner vehicles. The trade body said the new directive posed a “huge threat” to employment and the economy.
