Inchcape announces major overhaul

Inchcape Retail is to dispose of up to 47 sites across the UK and its logistics arm as it looks to focus on the premium segment. Inchcape said it planned to dispose of non core franchises, including luxury brands Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati as well as volume franchises like Renault, Vauxhall, Ford and Kia. The group also plans to shed its Inchcape Automotive UK operation. The announcement came as the UK’s second largest dealer group produced a strong set of preliminary results, achieving an 11.7 per cent growth in sales to £1.7bn for the year ended 31 December 2006. The group delivered trading profit improvement of 57 per cent to £45.9m – a record level for the group.
