More UK car buyers shifting into cleaner cars
A NEW study of C02 emissions by the SMMT, due out next month, will show a positive move by UK motorists into cars with lower C02 emissions.
By comparing road tax bands, which are based on tailpipe CO2, the report will show 60.7% of new cars sold last year fell within the cleanest bands A-D (under 165 g/km) compared with just 43.1% in 2000.
How much the drift into cars with lower emissions is due to buyers' green aspirations or because more cars, today, are incorporating lower emissions technology is not clear.
