Commercial vehicle growth continues

Figures just released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show commercial vehicle growth continuing.
Vans are up 1.6% for June and 2.0% for the rolling year while trucks are up 53.2% for June, though still down 21.3% for the rolling year.
"The good news on van and truck registrations continues for the third straight month," said Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. For vans the figures are good with the medium and heavy sectors doing particularly well. For trucks the distortion caused by last year's digital tachograph and Euro 4 emissions standards is beginning to fade and orders up.
"On that basis, we expect a return to the long-term average volumes, though supply constraints continue to complicate the picture."
