Govt still committed to 5-yr emissions target
PRIME MINISTER, Gordon Brown, yesterday, reconfirmed the measures in the Climate Change Bill which was originally in March.
Speaking in parliament on his plans for reform, he confirmed that the government will proceed with the Bill to make Britain the first country in the world to introduce a legal framework for reducing carbon emissions by setting targets for carbon emission reductions for each 5-year period to 2050.
"The Energy Bill will provide greater incentives for renewable energy generation and the Local Transport Bill will support the government's strategy to tackle congestion and improve public transport," he said.
