Mercedes' profit nearly doubles
MERCEDES' PRE-TAX profit nearly doubled in the second quarter.
Daimler Chrysler said the Mercedes unit earned $1.65bn in pre-tax profit in the period from sales only marginally up at $17.26bn.
The company did not report results from the Chrysler Group or Chrysler Financial because of their impending sale to Cerberus.
