Car sales soar to £36.5bn in UK


Drivers in the UK spent £36.5bn on new and used cars in 2006.
Over the past 10 years spending on vehicles has increased by 28 per cent from £25.4b.

According to Halifax Unsecured Personal Loan's annual review of the cost of motoring, the increase is indicative of the rising number of vehicles on British roads.
