Car window tinting: police in safety crackdown

Thirteen motorists have been summonsed to appear in court as part of a police campaign to crackdown on illegally-tinted car windows in Stoke-on-Trent. Officers said they fear fatal accidents have been caused as drivers have been unable to see properly in the dark because of the tinted windows. The law states any vehicle windows must allow at least 70% of light through. Police have been testing windows with light monitoring equipment at the city's Festival Park.
