Jobs boost for Nissan car plant

Almost 200 new jobs are being created at the Nissan car plant in Sunderland, to help meet demand for the company's latest model, the Qashqai. More than 70,000 of the vehicles have been sold across Europe since the small 4x4 vehicle was launched in March. Now 180 manufacturing staff, currently working at the plant on fixed-term temporary contracts, will be offered full-time permanent jobs with Nissan. About 850 Qashqai's roll off the Sunderland production line each day.
