Kia plans major expansion
KIA plans to reduce its interest in unprofitable fleet sales while simultaneously increasing business with private customers in a bid to become a top 10 UK retail player by 2010. The company also plans to increase the size of its dealer network and to sell an increasing percentage of European-built vehicles. The move follows a tumultuous period for the brand which last year saw its aggressive sales drive falter, the exit of Paul Williams, the managing director who led the brand’s revival in the UK, and the loss of over 20% of its dealers.
