Carmakers attack wrong target to stop discounts

CAR Manufacturers are targeting internet re-sellers in an attempt to halt dealer discounts on new cars, but Broadspeed.com says they should stop their own direct new car discount sales to ‘rental companies’ first. The organisation, which is a customer referral site, not a re-seller, was commenting after BMW GB managing director Jim O´Donnell’s recently threatened to disenfranchise dealers selling to online re-sellers when their contracts run out in 2008.Broadspeed.com claims it was singled out as a business with which BMW dealers have been instructed to stop doing business.
